Body Language: Viewpoints is a multimedia mobile tour and web feature that aims to invigorate a visitor’s interpretation of art at the Met, one object at a time. Experts from diverse fields offer unique perspectives on the language of gesture, facial expression, and pose in 20 figurative sculptures throughout the Museum.
Presented in both audio and video, viewpoints come from curators, educators, dancers, choreographers, neuroscientists, musicians, theater actors and directors, and a deaf American Sign Language user. Each considers the power of gesture and the body’s expression in different ways.
