Using gestures to interact with digitized museum content (Booth 2)
DemonstrationSlavko Milekic, University of the Arts, USA
Current availability of cheap and plug-and-play motion sensing devices (Kinect, LeapMotion, Ractiv) allows even museums and galleries with modest means to create dramatic interactive applications with their digitized content. Gesture interactions are intuitive, require little or no physical maintenance, are well suited for public spaces (“germ-free”), and can be easily repurposed for different content.
This paper is based on author’s fifteen year long research on the use of gesture interfaces, and provides an overview of gesture-based applications designed specifically for museums.
