The Internet and digital technologies are highly mythologised, within museum circles and beyond them. To hear many of the conversations in the sector, it is easy to get the impression that such technologies have changed everything about what the museum sector does and how it relates to its audiences. But how true is this? Where have digital technologies really impacted museum work, and where have the differences been exaggerated? In this forum, a group of museum thinkers and professionals will try to unravel some of the mythologies and realities about the museum in the digital age to consider how museums can temper the rhetoric of new technology to find the actuality behind it.
