Digital interactives can offer visitors opportunities to explore in-depth content, personalize their experience, immerse themselves in a story, and have FUN… Or they can be expensive computer monitors. This session will bring together a diverse group of museum professionals who will attempt to pinpoint the processes and practices that lead to great interactive experiences in museums. Moderated by “museum tech” veterans, session participants will examine whether there are universal techniques or considerations that can be applied to any museum interactive to ensure its success. What internal processes, such as user testing and phase overlap, tend to have the best outcomes? Where are common pitfalls, and how can we make sure to avoid them?
